Adsense guide This article is meant for the readers who do not need primary introduction to adsense as a superior affiliate program. For a formal introduction to adsense we refer you to advertising programs in google homepage. There is an enormous amount literature published by non- google publishers to confuse a beginner or experienced adsense user to extract some benefit for themselves. Now read on. Adsense is an easy and lucrative method of home business for practically everyone. While publishers find adsense to be a very simple marketing method for generating money, google does all the hard work to make it so. We will not discuss how much google engineers sweat, we will discuss the facts, which are evident but not discussed in most of the publications. Before experiencing the adsense banners in his own publications a publisher's thinking remains clouded by myths, generated by usual internet gossip and unscrupulous sellers. They hit the sentiment of readers by assuming the readers are not earning as expected and offer to share keywords, best adsense format and other ways of achieving higher commission.Google adsense bar displays ads from google adword clients. Based on the traffic available and demands of advertisers, the bidding process decides how much an adword advertiser should pay. Lower limit is at rock bottom $0.05 only while sky is the upper limit. Many advertisers bid $30 per click to get a top rank in sponsored sites listed in search results. As traffic in google search engines is much higher than any of the adsense publishers, google reserves the slots in sponsored sites for the high paying ads only. The lower order of bidders do not find a place in google search engines results page. So where are these ads put up? obviously in pages of websites showing adsense banners.Imagine a keyword fetches bids from $30 to $0.10 per click. The total number of bidders is 50. If google rotates these ads one after another, google earns total $120 in one cycle of rotation. This means google earns $4 per ad on average. But if they restrict to only ten slots and allow only top bidders, the average earning rises to $15 per ad. That's what they do. The rest of the 40 ads are distributed to adsense publishers. If a publisher has traffic comparable to a google search result page, he is rewarded with the high paying ads also.As publishers depend largely on search engine traffic, they do not find high paying ads in their pages. Site traffic can be increased several folds (by links from blogsites, forums, newsletters, public ads and the rest). In normal cases, a click on an adsense may fetch anything between $0.03 to $0.50 as the lower order ads are rotated. These bidders have to find places in adsense bars on web pages with matching keyword contents. We hope the myth about choosing high paying keyword is clarified by the above example. Even if a small publisher chooses a keyword with $100 top bid, he will find clicks worth $0.10 to $0.50 only. The long term click through rate is normally 2% to 3%. That suggests any one of those ads may be clicked anytime. An exception to this practice takes place, when adsense is installed in a page for the first time. A special adsense robot visits the page to check if it conforms to the rules. If text contents are not focused it can not decide what group of ads should be appropriate, instead it inserts a few high paying ads (only for the first time). The first set of ads are unrelated to the page contents. These ads do not find enough impressions as traffic for their adword is small. This is why some surfers have reported in adsense forums about finding an odd reading ad in few websites occasionally. If these ads are not available at that point of time, public service ads are put up. Not only unrelated, they do not have any click value also.So far in the discussion, we assumed that advertisers make a fixed bid for a keyword or phrase. They do not. Advertisers are allowed to set upper and lower limits to cost of clicks.Imagine 2 merchants bidding for the same keyword. Merchant SiteA.com sets his limits from $30 to $20 per click, Marchant SiteB.com chooses $25 to $15 as his limits. To start with SiteA is given higher ranking than SiteB. But if SiteB ad is clicked more often than SiteA ad, Google will lower the position of SiteA with respect to SiteB to give SiteB more oppurtunity. SiteA wiil be placed with other ads having similar click through rate. In the lower position, clicks will cost SiteA a value less than $30. SiteA will spend as much as ads in his neighbourhood are paying. Thus no ad will have to pay its highest bid amount for all the clicks made. But if an ad lacking in optimization in choosing words, collects very poor click through rate, it lands in adsense bar of websites. The average income from adsense publishing lies in the range of $40 to $70 in the begining stages. It depends on daily traffic, keywords used and optimization techniques. If multiple web sites are added to the same account, income can rise tenfolds with time. There is a growing number of websites, typically directory/encyclopedia types, who go for adword and adsense together for the same keywords. The idea initially seems puzzling, as they have to pay much more money to get much less. But the idea works out to be very effective in optimizing adsense to increase earning. By participating in adword campaign, they come to know about the existing bid amounts, their own positions and click through rate. This helps them in eliminating the low bidding ads from their adsense banners, whenever they appear. They earn much more by adsense as only high paying ads appear. They themselves bid for a lower range of PPC rates, ensuring low expenditure for targeted traffic. Besides google adsense, they insert other ads related to page text. The total earnings from ad campaigns far exceed the expenses in adword advertising.
